Sukabumi, ummi.ac.id – In a meaningful moment, the Faculty of Science and Technology of the Muhammadiyah University of Sukabumi (UMMI) organized an event to bid farewell to students of the Civil Engineering Study Program who were selected to participate in the Education and Career Program in South Korea. This event is part of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) initiative, an integrated student exchange program between UMMI and Gyeongnam Namhae University in South Korea for two years. The farewell took place on Monday (03/04/2024) in Meeting Room A4.

At the event, distinguished officials from both universities, including the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology of UMMI, representatives from Gyeongnam Namhae University, and students and lecturers, were present. The selected student, Dede Faturahman, is about to embark on a journey of immense personal and professional growth. He will undergo rigorous education and training at Gyeongnam Namhae University and will have the unique opportunity to intern at several leading construction and civil engineering companies in South Korea, a prospect that is sure to inspire all.

In his address, Dr Asep Muhamad Ramdan, S.E., M.M., Vice Rector I, underscored the pivotal role of international cooperation in education. He highlighted how the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka program is not just about individual students but about fostering a global community of learners. This program, he emphasized, opens up doors for students to gain invaluable learning experiences abroad, thereby enriching their understanding of the world and their place in it.

"I hope that through the exchange program, civil engineering students can truly make the most of their learning experience in Korea, and the selected students can also introduce UMMI and the Muhammadiyah organization in Korea," he said.

The cooperation between UMMI and Gyeongnam Namhae University will open more doors for collaboration in other fields, including faculty exchange and joint research, strengthening the relationship between the two institutions and countries.
