2 Students and 1 Nursing Lecturer of UMMI Join Short-term Midwifery and Womens Care Professional and Technical Training in Taiwan

Sukabumi, ummi.ac.id - Students and lecturers of the Muhammadiyah University of Sukabumi (UMMI) are again involved in international activities. This time two students from Nursing Department, Sri Nanti Agustini and Erni Yuliani Sopandi had the opportunity to participate "Short-term Midwifery and Women's Care Professional and Technical Training Program for Indonesian". Lecturer of Nursing Department, Ria Andriani, S.Kep., Ners, M.Kep will be accompanying them.

Short-term Midwifery and Women's Care Professional and Technical Training Program which runs for one month from April to May 2018. Both students of D3 of Nursing UMMI can follow Short-term Midwifery and Women's Care Professional and Technical Training Program in Taiwan after following selection process has been done since February 2018.

The trainings program is in collaboration with the National University of Nursing and Health Sciences (NTUNHS) Taipei, Taiwan through Taiwan International Health Care Training Center (TIHTC) under the Ministry of Health and Welfare Republic of China (Taiwan). UMMI cooperation with Government and University in Taiwan has been started since 2017. Through this activity, students are expected to learn to integrate international-scale latest theory and practice in nursing, pre-natal and newborn care, in addition to improving maternal and health knowledge of pregnant women, so as to protect the health of pregnant women and postpartum, as well as skills for care before and after childbirth. The program also trains healthcare providers to offer guidance and advice for women before, during, and after childbirth, as well as advice on caring for infants and young children. This course prepares trainers to train midwifery independently in the hope of reducing maternal and infant mortality in Indonesia.

The Rector advised the students to keep their culture, discipline, active and fulfill their obligations as good Muslims while in Taiwan. "The most important is to seek knowledge as much as possible, so that when returning to Indonesia can bring useful science and become an example for younger siblings to be motivated to follow the next program".
