LPPM Of UMMI Briefed 672 Students To Get Them Ready Helping The Society in Community Service Program

Auditorium, ummi.ac.id - As an implementation of Catur Dharma, Muhammadiyah University of Sukabumi (UMMI) through the Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) encouraged the students to contribute in the society through Community Service Program. In 2019 Community Service Program, 726 students from five faculties were sent to the society.

The Head of Committee of 2019 UMMI Community Service Program, Ria Andriani, M.Kep., Ners., Said that the participants were divided into 3 programs namely International Community Service Program in Thailand and Malaysia, Muhammadiyah National Community Service Program in Bengkulu and Thematic Community Service Program in Sukabumi City and Sukabumi Regency. There are 672 students participating in Thematic Community Service divided into 40 groups. The groups are then divided into 7 fields which are placed in several locations spread across 21 sub-districts located in Sukabumi City and Sukabumi Regency. The Thematic Community Service are held for 40 days, from 25 July to 2 September 2019.

Ria Andriani said, that before implementing Community Service programs, students were briefed to equip them with Islamic and Muhammadiyah insights, Insights about Sukabumi, and also the 7 fields of service, namely Community Economic Empowerment, Pioneer Business by Unemployed Persons (Urimastu), Family Empowerment Post, LPCR (AIK), Decopage and Macrame and Online Applications, Green Waste, and Women and Children Empowerment.

The Rector of UMMI, Dr. Sakti Alamsyah, M.Pd, in his speech said that Community Service is part of the pillar of learning to live together, which means living with the society. Interacting with the public according to the Rector is a very valuable thing, therefore Community Service is an arena for training these competencies.

The Rector said, Community Service is a part of Rahmatan lil ‘Alamin, we want to spread goodnes to places, people, contexts, regions. Hopefully, Through this Community Service we can increase the benefits of those who come from the Muhammadiyah University of Sukabumi

Finally, the Rector advised the students to maintain UMMI's good name and always raise enthusiasm to contribute to development. According to him, the existence of students is measured by its benefits to the community which is the location of Community Service. "The reason for choosing this Community Service area seems to be several variables, one of which is the need," he said.

"It means that if our developed regions will not touch much. But there are several regions, because some aspects need our touch. And so we hope that the presence of Community Service really brings benefits, "he added.
